Zion National Park

Zion National Park

We spent 5 days in the campground of Zion National Park.  We have visited this park many times and each time I arrive I am awed by the beauty of the towering red cliffs.  We were joined by our good friend Stacy Harmon who stayed in her tent trailer in an adjacent campsite.  Susie and Stacy did some quilting in the evenings.  We hiked the Watchman trail, the River Walk up to The Narrows (a highly recommended walk in the river), but we didn’t have the time or the gear to walk The Narrows. We also hiked the Grotto Trail and finished with the iconic Angels Landing hike.  The weather was perfect for hiking.   Being late in the season, and also due to the capacity limitations on the shuttles up the canyon, there were not many hikers on the trails and lots of wildlife throughout the park.  I also took a bike ride up the length of the road from the campground to the Temple of Sinawava.  Except for the occasional shuttle bus passing, I was pretty much alone in the park.  Earlier in the Summer and Fall, we heard that the Park was full of tourists. This has definitely been a strange year.

Quail Creek State Park

We spent 8 days here.  Stacy was here for 3 days as well, and a lot of quilting happened.  Being close to St George, we visited family in the area:  My parents (which also involved more quilting) and my brother Paul his wife Julie.  I rode some local mountain bike trails, including  to an overlook of the reservoir.  We had a small family Thanksgiving dinner together.  I made a few small repairs and adjustments to the trailer (a never-ending process). Sunrises and sunsets were beautiful as our campsite had a great view of Quail Creek reservoir.

Some awesome Zion shots! I liked most of the others as well, except the one I look like a lunatic in.
