Our Story

Schilthorn, Switzerland

We are Susie and Dave Johnson, married in 1985, now with 4 grown children.  We share a love of travel and managed to fit in some great adventures during the working/kid-raising years.

With grown children and early retirement, we decided to travel essentially full time:  In December 2017 we sold or donated most everything, rented out our house in Boise Idaho (then sold it in 2020) and have become global nomads.  We set out on January 10th 2018 to South East Asia for our first extended trip as global nomads.

From September 2018 to March 2020, we were on a service assignment in Cambodia for our church, mainly working on educational projects.   We returned to the US in March 2020, just in time for the world to shut down from Covid-19.

Since international travel was on hold we renovated a 5th wheel and traveled around the US from June 2020 to July 2021. We sold the truck and trailer and went back traveling internationally with a carry-on suitcase and plane ticket. Go to our map page to see the locations for our various trips, and where we are right now!

To balance nomadic travel with family life, we returned to the US every few months to visit friends and family, then headed out for our next adventure.   This continued until August 2024, when it was time to help Dave’s parents.

We haven’t hung up our traveling shoes, but we are not presently full time travelers. Since August 2024 e have been living in St George Utah. Dave’s father passed away in October 2024, and his mother is now living in a retirement facility in St George. Dave’s brother lives in the area so they take turns helping their mother, which allows time for each to continue traveling.

We bought a truck and trailer (again!), so we can take shorter trips to visit the beautiful outdoor recreational areas throughout the southwest. We also have some plans for longer trips overseas.
