We are Susie and Dave Johnson, married in 1985, now with 4 grown children. We share a love of travel and managed to fit in some great adventures during the working/kid-raising years.
Now that the kids are grown and full-time work is behind us, we decided to travel essentially full time: In December 2017 we sold or donated most everything, rented out our house in Boise Idaho (then sold it in 2020) and have become global nomads. We set out on January 10th 2018 to South East Asia for our first extended trip as global nomads.
From September 2018 to March 2020, we were on a service assignment in Cambodia for our church, mainly working on educational projects. We returned to the US in March 2020, just in time for the world to shut down from Covid-19.
Since international travel was on hold we renovated a 5th wheel and traveled around the US from June 2020 to July 2021. We sold the truck and trailer and we are back to traveling internationally with a carry-on suitcase and plane ticket. Go to our map page to see the locations for our various trips, and where we are right now!
To balance nomadic travel with family life, we return to the US every few months to visit friends and family, then head out for our next adventure. We plan to do this for several years, depending on family circumstances, and our level of mutual tolerance as we live the unpredictable nature of foreign travel.
