It’s been a long time since we put up a post. We have been busy and not thinking much about out blog, so here’s a quick recap of places and events
Crescent Creek, Oregon (early September)
We moved from the Oregon Coast inland to Crescent Creek Campground, about an hour south of Bend Oregon. No services, so this was our first true boondocking location. We took some hikes and enjoyed the solitude. Dave spent a lot of time repositioning the solar panel to recharge the battery, and scraping off the curling, cracked decals. The big fires in the Northwest started about then, but the wind was blowing to the west, so we were not affected.
Bend (early September)
We moved to a Thousand Trails campground just south of Bend, Oregon. The first few days were nice weather, and on the last day, we took a beautiful hike along the Deschutes River to Benham Falls. Then the smoke from the big fires blew in, and our outdoor activities ended. We decided to bail on Bend and headed to Boise a few days early.
Boise (mid-September)
It was smoky in Boise as well, and we arrived two days earlier than our RV park reservations. So we spent the first night (a Saturday night) in the parking lot of our church and were able to attend church and visit a bit with friends outside our trailer in the parking lot on Sunday. We spent the next night in a friend’s driveway, then moved to the RV park for the week. We had our truck serviced, dental appointments and visits with more friends and with our son who still lives there. Susie added a little personality to our bathroom and worked on quilts for friends and family.
Pocatello (late September)
Next stop was Pocatello for about a week. We stayed at the fairgrounds where we happened across a calf roping competition. Mostly we visited with our daughter and her husband and helped with projects at their house.
Deer Creek State Park, Spanish Fork, Orem (late September into October)
We moved down to Utah and stayed at Deer Creek State Park, which is up Provo Canyon just east of the Provo area. We visited with our son, daughter and granddaughter, a niece and her family and with other good friends in the area.
Next up: A recap of our 18 days in in Moab, Utah with lots of hikes, drives and mountain bike rides!
