Asheville NC
It was hard to find a place to stay near Asheville. After Memorial Day so many families are now out camping. Susie found a spot at the fairgrounds for our three nights here. Apparently this is a really well kept secret because we were the only RV there for the whole time. It felt a bit lonely and odd.
We visited the (aptly named) Biltmore house, gardens and grounds. The photos do not do it justice to it’s size and grounds. Biltmore was built for the Vanderbilt family, and is still owned by family members. Building started in 1889 and finished in 1895, it is the largest residential house in the US at 178,000 square feet. It is expensive to tour, but worth the money. The grounds are spectacular as well.
Nashville, TN
We mainly hung out it the campground enjoying our view of Priest Lake.Ā Dave spent a morning in Nashville to have the truck serviced and hit up a Trader Joeās to restock the pantry.Ā We spent the remainder of our two days there enjoying our view of Priest Lake with the occasional rain shower.
Paducah, KY
This is the home of the National Quilt Museum, which Susie visited on day 1. This is quilting taken to a whole other level….. Click on some of these photos to see their beauty and detailed work. On Day 2 we stopped into the local farmerās market and bought some baked goods from an Amish family as well as some fresh produce, cut flowers. It was so stinkin’ hot and humid, we didn’t have the energy to do much else.
In other news: We bought a vacation rental property in St. George Utah. If you want to spend some time there, check it out!
Arcadia is a resort with a lot of fun amenities. In August we plan to transition from trailer life back to global travel. Most of the time, the Arcadia property will continue to be a vacation rental, but between trips we plan to spend a week or two there, several times a year.
