We spent over two weeks in Moab. This gave us ample time for hikes and mountain bike rides in the area. While there, I recoated the RV roof and Susie took a trip back to Orem for a quilting weekend.
I rode at Moab Brands, Klonzo, M&M loop, Klondike Bluffs and Slickrock on the fat bike, except for Slickrock, where I rode a rented a full suspension bike. The bike was great, but the trail wore me out, so I didn’t complete the whole thing, which was fine. I was just happy to spend some time on one of the best known mountain bike trails in the world. Riding mid-week in October, I was pretty much alone on all the rides.

Moab lies between Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park, so we took some great hikes in both parks, and nearby areas.

We also took a drive on some 4-wheel-drive roads near Canyonlands: Gemini Bridges Road and the Long Canyon Road. The Enterprise car rental folks approved our route in a Jeep Compass. Here’s a short video of the descent on the Long Canyon Road. It was a fun 4-wheel-drive adventure, but I question Enterprise’s judgement in letting us do it in their Jeep….
October was a perfect time to visit Moab and the beautiful parks near here. The weather has been perfect….clear skies, cool temperatures. We’re grateful to have the time and good health and resources to be able to experience these natural wonders.
Next up: Green River and then Goblin Valley State Park, both still in Utah.
