We spent 9 days in Puako Hawaii (north of Kona) on the big island of Hawaii. We were here with Bob and Jeanie and Elana (Susie’s brother, his wife and one of their daughters). There is just something about Hawaii that makes you want to slow down, sit at the beach and just enjoy the passage of time. So we explored the area some, spent time in Waimea shopping, but mostly just hung out enjoying the balmy breezes, dips in the ocean, sunsets and fresh fish. Here is a sample of activities:
Lots of time spent looking at the ocean, and quite a few whales spouting, fin slapping the surface, and breaching.

We saw wild pigs, goats, turkeys, turtles and colorful birds.
The sunset show was worth the wait almost every evening

And the company was most excellent!

Petroglyphs samples nearby, obviously carved by early Hawaiians, but not much else is known about these.

It’s never easy to say goodbye to Hawaii!

Next Up: We will spend March in Utah, Idaho, and Arizona, before heading to St. Kitts and Nevis for 6 months starting in April!
