We finished our service mission in Cambodia at the beginning of March. We miss our friends in Cambodia, and we enjoyed what we did there, but it was time to see family at home.

Our mission finished right as countries were starting to close down borders due to Covid-19. So we skipped our planned trip to Vietnam and went to Hawaii for a precautionary quarantine. Thanks to Bob and Jeannie for the invitation to stay with them! When the shelter-in-place orders began, we were in Utah. Many thanks to our friends the Harmons who allowed us an extended stay at their house. Since Plan A (international travel for 2020) was not going to happen, we developed plan B: renovate an older 5th wheel while sheltering, and travel in the US when private campgrounds, state and national parks opened. We bought a 2009 Keystone Montana and renovated the inside (photos to come soon), but the outside still needs some help.
Funny thing: we watched a lot of Youtube videos about RV’s during the renovation period. One channel in particular we found to be very helpful: Jared Gillis (sp) at AllAboutRV’s, so we had watched a lot of his videos. On our first night trying out the trailer at a campground at Utah Lake, we parked in the campground and Jared Gillis walked out of the neighboring trailer! He was our neighbor for all three days there.
We tried out all the electrical/plumbing at the campground and found we had a plumbing issue. It took a month to get that fixed (RV repair places were very busy) but now we are on the road. Below are some photos of places we have been during the past few months.
We plan to work our way up the west coast over the summer. Stay tuned for hopefully more regular updates.
It’s Cambodia… Saying goodbye to some good friends at King House Sunset on Tonle Sap Lake in central Cambodia
