This week, let’s talk about the BYU Pathway Worldwide, and the BYU Pathway Connect program. BYU Pathway Connect is a one year, three semester sequence of online classes, weekly in-person gatherings and other assignments that builds the necessary skill set in students to continue on towards certificates and degrees as online students at BYU-Idaho. This includes developing academic study skills, mastering online classwork, Microsoft Office products, developing basic math skills and developing English conversation, reading and writing proficiency. After completion of the Pathway Connect year, students can continue working towards select degrees at BYU-Idaho as independent students, all at greatly reduced tuition rates.
This is a great program, offering post-secondary education to people around the world who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity. BYU Pathway Connect just started here in Phnom Penh Cambodia, and so we were able to help get this off the ground. Our role is to educate local Church leaders about the program so they can help us identify potential students. We also answer questions and provide local assistance to students and potential students, and oversee the Gatherings. Here are some photos from the first “Gathering”.
