We’ve been pretty busy since our return from England in early June (about three months ago), so the blog has been idle until now. A few things have happened in the three months since our last post from England. Lots of family visits, a new grandchild, a new phase of our “travels” etc… We’ll get to that in a future blog.
As for the rest of the UK trip, no time to ‘slpain, let me sum up. Following our Cotswold Way adventure, we spent a few days relaxing in Bradford-on-Avon, taking a trip back into Bath to visit the sights. We had a nice walking tour to understand the history of the city. Dave took the tour of the Roman Baths while Susie visited the Assembly Rooms.
We also enjoyed Bradford-on-Avon as it is a picturesque city as well, with a famous bridge and very old Saxon stone chapel. We tool advantage of deal from EuropeCar, paying 1 pound for a one way car, 24 hour car rental from Bath to Heathrow. What a great way to see Avebury and other points of interest along our way back to London.
Great that is, until Dave hit a pothole on a small backroad, which pinch-flatted the left front tire.

No cell coverage to call EuropeCar for help, and we had an overnight train to Inverness Scottland to catch that evening. Yikes. Fortunately we had ended up right next to a house, and the owner was kind enough to let us use his phone to call for help. Hours passed, and EuropeCar eventually sent a tow truck to cart the car (and us) back to Heathrow. We had to drop off luggage and make our way from the Heathrow area by train to Euston Station in North London, and managed to catch our overnight train to Scotland with 15 minutes to spare.

We had a nice week in Scotland exploring Inverness, a bus tour of the Isle of Skye, and some time exploring Edinburgh.
Our final stop was a tour of the Warner Brothers Studio: The Making of Harry Potter.
Then back to the US in early June, in time for the birth of our first official grandchild! There was sooo much that we did on this trip, these blog posts just cover a tiny bit. We really loved the two weeks in London visiting the sights and museums at leisure, the eleven days walking the Cotswold Way through the beautiful countryside and the historic towns and villages along the way, the week in Scotland and the visit to the Harry Potter studio. The UK has so much to see and do, so I’m sure we will return to the area at some point to explore even more.
